About Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy can take place in a person's home, their work place, or local community... wherever is most appropriate for the individual.
According to the College of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy provides practical support to enable people to facilitate recovery and overcome any barriers that prevent them from doing the activities that matter to them. Occupational Therapy takes a whole person approach to both mental and physical health and wellbeing, enabling individuals to achieve their full potential.
In Adult ADHD and High Functioning Autism, some of the most debilitating problems are the executive functions such as planning, prioritising, maintaining motivation, organising, and working memory. Occupational Therapists are skilled at assessing these kinds of issues, and can help clients to develop a goal oriented plan which works to their strengths, and helps to address any areas of weakness.
